On 19 June we opened our doors to the community and other service providers. It was a day that showcased how the aged care and health industry works together to support our seniors and each other.

Guests were greeted at Rockpool Morayfield by our CEO, Melissa Argent before proceeding to our COVIDSafe sign in and given a Rockpool themed giftbag before heading to our River Road Café for a coffee and croissant. Many visitors were extremely lucky to get a tour of our Morayfield home by none other than one of our Founders, Bill Summers.

We were lucky to have a representative from BallyCara to discuss all things homecare for guests. This allowed us to provide a holistic and well rounded package for everyone who walked through our doors. We offered everything from food to Financials as we were able to discuss the process of getting into aged care and the cost of aged care.

Throughout the home we had exercise classes run by an Exercise Physiologist from FitnessForever, specialising in falls prevention classes for seniors across the Brisbane area. Rockpool Morayfield was filled with the smell of fresh baked cookies as residents participated in one of the cooking classes in the Community Centre. Guests were then invited into the Cinema to learn about Rockpool’s ‘Living Memories Project’ initiative by Board Member, Cathy Meyers.

One of the best parts of the morning was resident, Gina, DJing and spinning all our favourite tunes! She even took requests.

Overall, we were extremely happy with the turn out and cannot wait to host more events for the Morayfield and surrounding community as restrictions ease.
